Tell us a little about yourself and your path to Tactel
It all started with a summer job back in 2021. I kept coming back, working part-time during my studies, writing my thesis here and eventually, it just evolved into a full-time role after graduation. You could say I’ve explored pretty much every corner of Tactel along the way :)
Today, I work as an Android developer on the Modular Interactive project – a flexible platform for in-flight entertainment systems. I also help coordinate our quarterly planning activities for the project.
What does a typical workday look like?
A typical day starts by catching up on everything that came in from colleagues on the other side of the Atlantic while we were asleep. Then I plan out my day and, if I have time before our morning meeting, squeeze in a few smaller coding tasks.
Most days are spent developing new features and fixing bugs. And I genuinely love programming in this project. Being involved from the start, helping shape how a feature should work, watching it take form, and eventually seeing it used by customers is incredibly rewarding.

Honestly, it’s almost ridiculous how much fun it is to build something from scratch. Who would have thought that typing on a keyboard could be this satisfying?
What makes Tactel, Tactel?
For me, enjoying my work is essential, and at Tactel I genuinely do. A big part of that comes down to all the friendly and helpful colleagues who make every day a little better.
I also appreciate how easy it is to maintain a good work-life balance. The flexibility here is a huge plus, it really takes the stress out of life. Whether I’m planning a trip to climb Kebnekaise with friends or just need to pick up my mother-in-law from the station on a Monday morning, it’s never an issue :)
And what about when you're not working?
Right now, a lot of my free time revolves around board games and exercise. My partner and I have set our sights on completing The Swedish Classic, so there's plenty of cycling, running, swimming, and skiing in the mix.
And I really do love board games. Maybe a little too much... I've actually put myself on a buying ban :) So if you're into board games and happen to be in the Umeå area, apply for a job at Tactel and come say hi!
Any advice for someone who wants to work here?
If you enjoy great colleagues, interesting work, a welcoming culture, and the opportunity to travel internationally from time to time, then I think you should apply for a job here :)
